Strong Museum Unveils Video Game HOF Nominees - Finger Lakes Daily News

Twelve iconic video games have been selected as finalists for the 2024 class of The Strong's World Video Game Hall of Fame. The prestigious roster celebrates titles that have significantly influenced popular culture, game design, and the entertainment industry at large.
This year's diverse nominees span decades and genres. They include pioneering titles like Asteroids, Elite, and Myst, alongside globally recognized franchises such as Resident Evil, Tony Hawk's Pro Skater, and Ultima. The list also features beloved classics Guitar Hero, Metroid, Neopets, SimCity, Tokimeki Memorial, and You Don't Know Jack.
A committee of experts will now review the nominees based on criteria including their icon-status, longevity, geographical reach, and overall influence. The final inductees will be chosen not just for commercial success, but for their lasting impact on society and the gaming landscape.
The Strong National Museum of Play, located in Rochester, New York, houses the World Video Game Hall of Fame. The final inductees for this year will be revealed in a special ceremony this spring, where they will join a permanent exhibition alongside past honorees like The Legend of Zelda, Tetris, and Microsoft Flight Simulator.
