Eric Crawford, 21, a gamer from Wilmerding, has been inspired by his father's participation in video game tournaments. Observing the evolving dynamics between players and their avatars, he decided to explore how artificial intelligence (AI) can enhance gaming experiences. This summer, Crawford, along with fellow students from Indiana University of Pennsylvania (IUP), embarked on a research project that examines the intersection of AI and gaming, aiming to understand character development and player engagement more deeply.
In a separate initiative, another group of students applied AI technology to the fashion industry. They analyzed trends and consumer behavior, seeking to predict future styles and preferences. Their work highlights the potential of AI in transforming how fashion brands interact with their audience.
Additionally, a third team focused on the application of AI in medical research, specifically targeting breast cancer. By utilizing machine learning algorithms, they aimed to improve early detection methods and treatment options. This multifaceted approach showcases the versatility of AI and its potential to drive innovation across various fields.
