"BioShock Meets Willy Wonka" Retro Shooter Is Out

August 20, 2026 - 03:35

The retro shooter scene just got a whole lot weirder. A new game that blends the frantic action of classic shooters with the unsettling charm of a corrupted candy factory has officially launched. The game, often described as "BioShock meets Willy Wonka," drops players into a nightmarish theme park where the friendly mascots are anything but.

Instead of a typical arsenal of military hardware, you will be blasting through hordes of twisted fairy-tale characters. Think of a grinning, porcelain-skinned princess with too many teeth, or a wolf that walks on two legs and carries a rusty cleaver. The whole thing is wrapped in a grimy, low-poly aesthetic that feels like a lost PlayStation 1 classic, complete with heavy fog and crunchy textures.

The core loop is simple: explore a sprawling, multi-level tower, find keycards, solve light environmental puzzles, and mow down anything that moves. The combat is fast and punchy, with a focus on strafing and resource management. Ammo is scarce, so you will need to make every shotgun blast count. The atmosphere is thick with dread, but the game never takes itself too seriously, leaning into the absurdity of its premise with dark humor and over-the-top gore.

The game is out now on PC, with a console release planned for later this year. If you are tired of realistic military shooters and want something with a bit more personality, and a lot more nightmare fuel, this one is worth a look. Just do not expect any free chocolate samples.
